Peyton St. George has been selected in the second-ever Athletes Unlimited College Softball Draft, as the league announced during the ESPNW summit on Wednesday in New York City.
St. George was selected alongside 12 other graduating players across the nation and was one of just three from the ACC to be taken. St. George was also one of just five pitchers to be selected this season.
It's been another standout season for St. George, who is putting together a record-breaking campaign in 2022. St. George is 19-3 with a 1.69 ERA (120.1 IP), striking out 159 batters and holding opposing hitters to a .181 batting average against mark. The pitcher already has taken home one ACC Pitcher of the Week honor this season and is closing in on the Blue Devils' single season wins record.
Throughout her career at Duke, St. George has been named NFCA Third Team All-Region, ACC Tournament Most Valuable Player and tabbed a two-time All-ACC selection. The Mechanicsville, Va., native becomes the first player in program history to be drafted to a professional softball league.
Athletes Unlimited Softball will open the 2022 season for a two-week competition called AUX Softball in San Diego, Calif., running from June 13-25. The championship season for Athletes Unlimited Softball will begin on June 29 and run through August 28, with competition happening at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Ill. All games will be broadcast on ESPN platforms.
