Garrett Johns had been selected to represent Duke at the 2022 NCAA Singles Championship from May 23-28 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Ill.

Johns received an at-large bid to compete in the 64-player singles field. It is his first career selection, and he becomes Duke's first competitor at the event since
Nicolas Alvarez in 2018.

The Atlanta, Ga., product served as the Blue Devils' top singles player this season, playing each of his dual matches on court one. He sports a 17-8 overall record and leads Duke with seven wins against ranked opponents. Johns' most noteworthy victory of the campaign was an upset of No. 22 Brian Cernoch of North Carolina 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (4-7), 6-3 on March 16. Johns was named the ACC Player of the Week following the performance. He has been nationally ranked by the ITA throughout the course of the year as well.

Action at the NCAA Singles Championship begins Monday, May 23, with the first round. All matches shall be the best-of-three sets. No-ad scoring and a 7-point tiebreaker (first to seven points, must win by two points) at six-games-all will be used for all matches.Â
