DURHAM – Fresh off leading Duke softball to the first NCAA Super Regional in program history, senior
Kristina Foreman has been named Duke's PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week.
Foreman had a massive weekend, going 6-for-10 (.600) with a home run, nine RBI, two doubles and four runs scored as the Blue Devils beat UMBC, Liberty and Georgia en route to winning the Durham Regional. The Tampa, Fla., native improved her record-breaking season numbers to a .415 batting average, 15 home runs and 56 RBI, while slugging .829 and stealing eight bases over 46 games.
Foreman's home run in the tournament opener against UMBC broke the scoreless tie between the two teams, while her five RBI against Georgia in the regional championship game proved critical. The senior infielder broke the game open with a bases-clearing double in the fifth inning to score three runs and give Duke a 10-5 lead.
The Blue Devils will be back in action this weekend, traveling to Los Angeles, Calif., to face fifth-seeded UCLA in the NCAA Super Regional. Game one and two will be televised on ESPN2, with the opener set for 11 p.m. ET and game two for 8:30 p.m. ET.
