DURHAM – Duke softball graduate student
Jameson Kavel has been named to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District III First Team, as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.
Kavel has been tabbed to the team for the third consecutive year, making four consecutive seasons with at least one Blue Devil tabbed to the exclusive list.
It has been a historic season for Kavel, who has hit .379 with 15 home runs and 42 RBIs, while tallying 15 doubles and 12 stolen bases. Her 15 home runs and 52 runs scored are single season program records, as Kavel has propelled the Blue Devils to their first 40-win regular season in program history. Kavel was recently named to the All-ACC first team for her efforts this season.
Kavel now becomes eligible for CoSIDA's Academic All-America ballot, as the Blue Devils seek their first such honoree in program history. Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 7.
Kavel and the Blue Devils will open their ACC Championship run, matching up with seventh-seeded Georgia Tech, today at 5 p.m. The game will be televised on ACC Network.
