Sophia Bae, who is a native of Norwood, N.J. Bae attended Northern Valley Regional, but has yet to make her Duke debut as a rookie. She was a 2019 Honorable Mention Rolex Junior All-American and 2018 AJGA Junior All-Star Team honoree. Bae collected 14 top-5, 21 top-10 and 26 top-20 placements since 2016 on the AJGA. She notched 10 rounds in the 60s on the AJGA.
GoDuke.com: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Sophia Bae: I would eat anything with chocolate or peanut butter!
GD: Who's your favorite golfer and why?
SB: My favorite golfer is Nelly Korda, because she is so determined and inspiring as a golfer and a woman.
GD: Who has had the largest impact on your life and why?
SB: My parents have had the biggest impact on my life because they constantly support and push me to become the best version of myself.
GD: What was the last thing you read?
SB: The last thing I read was an interview magazine spread of Beyonce.
GD: What's the last show you binge-watched?
SB: The last show I binge-watched was Squid Game.
GD: What's your favorite ice cream topping?
SB: My favorite ice cream topping is chocolate or nuts.
GD: Are you into podcasts or do you listen to music?
SB: I love both podcasts and music, but prefer listening to music.
GD: What's your favorite way to unwind?
SB: My favorite way to unwind is to cook or take long baths.
GD: Which is your favorite meal: breakfast, lunch, or dinner?
SB: Breakfast is my favorite meal!
GD: Are you a beach or mountain person?
SB: I am a beach person.
GD: What phone app do you use the most?
SB: I have been using Notion the most recently.
GD: Is there any product you couldn't live without?
SB: One product I could not live without is sunscreen.
GD: What your favorite movie genre? (horror, action, comedy, etc.)?
SB: My favorite movie genre is action.
GD: What's your all-time favorite Halloween costume?
SB: My favorite Halloween costume is a devil.
GD: What website do you visit most often?
SB: I visit YouTube the most.
GD: What do you wish you knew more about?
SB: I wish I knew more about global cultures.
GD: How different was your life one year ago?
SB: One year ago, I was in the warm state of Florida, studying for midterm exams.
GD: What's the farthest you've been from home?
SB: The farthest I have been from home is Seoul, South Korea.
GD: What is your ideal way to spend a weekend?
SB: My ideal way to spend a weekend is to sleep in, cook meals, go to cafes, and have daily walks.
GD: What's your most used emoji?
SB: My most used emoji is the red heart emoji.
GD: What's your favorite Disney character?
SB: My favorite Disney character is Simba.
GD: What's one thing on your bucket list?
SB: One thing on my bucket list is to travel to Europe.
GD: The best class you've taken at Duke and why?
SB: The best class I have taken at Duke so far would have to be my Cultural Anthropology class on "Culture and Mental Health."
GD: What's your favorite place to eat in Durham?
SB: My favorite place to eat in Durham is Everything Bagels or Happy and Hale.
GD: What is your favorite spot on campus?
SB: My favorite spot on Campus is WU or Bryan Center.
GD: What's the best advice you've ever received?
SB: The best advice I've been given is to relax and enjoy the present.
GD: What sport would you play if you didn't play golf?
SB: If I didn't play golf, I would probably have played soccer or tennis.
GD: What's one word that your teammates would use to describe you?
SB: I think one word that my teammates would use to describe me is "calm."
