Blue Devils Continue Ascent of National Rankings

DURHAM – After an ACC season-opening sweep of Georgia Tech, Duke softball has continued its rise in the national rankings, holding top-10 distinctions in three of the four major polls in the country.
The Blue Devils saw their largest jump in the ESPN/USA Softball rankings, where the team moved up three spots to No. 9 in the nation. The mark sets a new program high in that poll and marks the first time the Blue Devils have been in the top-10 in three of the four major polls in program history.
In the most used USA Today/NFCA rankings, Duke remains No. 13 in the nation.
A weekend sweep of Georgia Tech propelled the Blue Devils to a 16-3 overall record, joining Virginia Tech as the only schools off to a 3-0 ACC start. Jameson Kavel was a key piece of the offense, hitting .556 with two home runs and three RBI, while Peyton St. George went 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA (14.1 IP), reaching the 50-career wins and 500-career strikeout milestones.
Duke is back home for a packed week of action, beginning with back-to-back games against Penn State and No. 25 Charlotte on Tuesday at 5 p.m. and Wednesday at 6 p.m., respectively, before hosting NC State for a three-game set from Friday through Sunday. Games on Wednesday and Sunday will be broadcast on ACC Network, while the rest will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
