DURHAM – No. 5 Duke women's tennis wraps up the non-conference portion of its schedule with the final match of a five-match homestand, as the Blue Devils gear up for a midweek tilt against Northwestern on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Ambler Tennis Stadium.
Duke (10-1, 6-0 ACC) features a trio of singles players and two doubles pairs in the ITA rankings heading into the matches – junior
Chloe Beck leads the way in singles action at No. 9, followed by 23rd-ranked senior

The Opponent
Northwestern comes into the matchup sporting a 7-4 overall record that includes a 2-0 mark in Big Ten action. The squad features one player on the ITA singles rankings in 87th-ranked senior Clarissa Hand.
The Wildcats are coming off a 4-3 defeat of Minnesota this past Sunday. Northwestern grabbed the doubles point behind wins on courts one and three, then took three of the first four singles matches to clinch the victory.
Wednesday's matchup will be the 27th meeting all-time between the two sides.
The Blue Devils have won the last 12 contests
and hold a 21-5 ledger overall, but the squads haven't met since 2018, when Duke secured a 4-0 win.
Northwestern's roster features two former Duke players in graduate student
Ema Lazic and assistant coach Ellyse Hamlin. Hamlin excelled as a player at Duke from 2015-19 compiling 86 singles wins and 89 doubles wins in four seasons with the Blue Devils. She earned an ITA All-American selection following the 2017-18 season and was a three-time All-ACC honoree. Hamlin helped her squad to the NCAA Tournament all four years and led Duke to the NCAA semifinals in both her junior and senior seasons.
Lazic compiled a 12-14 singles and 16-8 doubles ledger over four years at Duke. She was a member of three NCAA tournament teams, a four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection as well as a 2020 ITA Scholar Athlete.

The Blue Devils had another perfect weekend in conference play and pushed their win streak to seven matches following wins over Boston College (6-1) and Syracuse (7-0).

- Kelly Chen currently sits in ninth on the Duke career singles list with a 125-45 mark, as well as 18th on the career doubles list at 87-44. Overall, the senior owns a 212-99 combined career singles and doubles record – good for ninth all-time in program lore. Chen needs six more wins to move into a tie for eighth with Jessi Robinson.

The Blue Devils hit the road for four consecutive ACC matches beginning with a trip to Florida for contests against Florida State and No. 10 Miami. Duke will square off against the Seminoles on Friday at 4 p.m. before closing the weekend with a top-10 Sunday matinee against the Hurricanes at 12 p.m.
