DURHAM – The No. 8 Duke women's lacrosse team (8-1, 1-1 ACC) is set to welcome Louisville (5-4, 1-2 ACC) and Davidson (5-0, 0-0 A10) for two contests at Koskinen Stadium. The Blue Devils will take on the Cardinals Thursday at 8 p.m., on ACCN before a 2 p.m., Sunday contest against the Wildcats.
OPENING DRAW
Duke and Louisville meet for the ninth time in program history as Duke owns a 7-1 advantage in the all-time series and have won three straight. The Blue Devils have never dropped a contest against Davidson (15-0).
A LOOK BACK
The then seventh-ranked Duke women's lacrosse team bounced back from its first loss of the season last weekend with consecutive wins. The Blue Devils defeated ACC foe Pittsburgh (15-14) before a commanding 21-10 victory over Penn on Sunday. Junior
Olivia Carner tallied nine points, including a career-high six against Pittsburgh, in two games. She also collected seven caused turnovers, three ground balls and five draw controls as a midfielder. Sophomore
Katie DeSimone registered seven points (5G, 2A) against Penn, which ties her career high. Junior defender
Cubby Biscardi collected a career-high five caused turnovers in Duke's win over Penn. Senior goalkeeper
Sophia LeRose reeled in nine saves against the Quakers and now owns 38 this season for a .380 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
The Cardinals enter Thursday's contest wih a 5-4 overall record and are 1-2 in conference games. Duke will be Louisville's third ranked opponent this season after previously falling to No. 1 Boston College (19-10) and No. 2 North Carolina (21-8). The Cardinals boast four players with 20 or more points this season, led by Hannah Morris (29 pts.), Nicole Perroni (27 pts.), Caroline Blalock (27 pts.) and Allegra Catalano (22 pts.). Defender Ashley Osborne leads the team with 17 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. Madi McKee is the draw specialist and owns 52 this season. She is 6-1,
Maddie Jenner's tallest draw opponent this season. Louisville has split time between goalkeepers J Pleck and Sara Addeche. Pleck owns a .385 save percentage with 45 saves, while Addeche has a .348 save percentage with 24 saves.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE WILDCATS
Davidson is 5-0 overall and is set to play East Carolina Wednesday before Sunday's meeting with the Blue Devils. The Wildcats are led by Erin Cooke (21 pts.), Julianne Carey (20 pts.), Gianna New (18 pts.) and Grace Fahey (15 pts.) and are averaging 15.20 goals per game as a team. Jane DiGregorio, Eva Finn and Carey lead the team with 10 ground balls while Carey also owns 32 draw controls. Davidson has gone with Amanda Monahan in goal with over 250 minutes of action. She boasts an 8.72 GAA and a .472 save percentage. Davidson is eighth nationally in scoring defense as Monahan is 25th in save percentage.
WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Kerstin Kimel started her coaching career at Davidson in 1994 as the program's first and one of the nation's youngest head coaches. The Wildcats played to a 4-8 record in her first and only season at Davidson before becoming the head coach at Duke in 1996.
FAST & FURIOUS
Through nine games, Duke has tallied a whopping 183 goals and 90 assists for 273 points. Its 20.33 goals per game and 30.22 points per game rank first nationally. Duke has proven to score fast and furiously this season and received scoring contributions from 21 different players. Not only are they scoring in bunches, the Blue Devils are also sharing the ball well with 90 assists on 183 goals, led by
Catriona Barry (18) and
Katie DeSimone (17).
THE ONE-TWO-PUNCH

Katie DeSimone have combined for an outstanding 104 points in nine games. No other duo in Division I has accomplished that this season. They have also notched more points than 55 Division I programs. Barry owns 37 goals and 18 assists for 55 points while DeSimone has 32 goals and 17 assists for 49 points. Last season, Barry tallied 35 points to DeSimone's 37.
CARNER'S CRUISE CONTROL
Junior midfielder
Olivia Carner has seen huge strides this season both offensively and defensively. She is third on the team with 29 points from 16 goals and 13 assists and is shooting .485 percent. Defensively, Carner is second on the squad with an impressive 15 caused turnovers and also has nine draw controls and eight ground balls. Over the weekend, Carner was stellar for Duke on both sides of the field. She tallied a career-high six points (3G, 3A) against Pittsburgh and a career-high four caused turnovers. She followed that performance with three goals against Penn.

Looking ahead, Duke travels to No. 16 Notre Dame Saturday, March 26 for a 1 p.m., contest in South Bend.
