GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke softball senior
Caroline Jacobsen has been tabbed as the ACC Player of the Week, as the league announced on Tuesday.
Â
Jacobsen reels in the first such honor of her career and becomes the fourth ACC weekly honoree in program history, joining
Kristina Foreman,
Peyton St. George, and
Shelby Walters.
Â
The Tallahassee, Fla., native had a weekend to remember at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., hitting .462 (6-for-13) with three home runs, four RBI, four walks, a double and a stolen base, while scoring five runs. Her efforts led the Blue Devils to a 4-1 mark, including a win over a top-five team for the third consecutive season in No. 5 Oklahoma State.
Â
Jacobsen recorded at least one hit in all five games and has a six-game hitting streak dating back to last season. Her first home run of the season came off All-American Miranda Elish, to give Duke the 1-0 lead against Oklahoma State. That home run also started a stretch of three consecutive games with a long ball.
Â
Duke and Jacobsen are back in action this weekend at the T-Mobile Tournament, hosted by Florida in Gainesville, Fla. The Blue Devils will meet the No. 4 Gators, Villanova, Louisville, and Florida A&M (twice) from Feb. 18-20.
