DURHAM – The 12th-ranked Duke women's fencing team closed out the 2022 Duke Meet with a 4-1 record Sunday in Card Gymnasium.
The Blue Devils defeated No. 9 Temple (15-12), Air Force (23-4), Boston College (25-2) and Brandeis (26-1) and fell to No. 7 Penn State (15-12).
The saber squad posted a flawless outing as
Vivi Buchmann,
Alex Gorman and
Anneke Zegers each recorded nine wins.
The foil team went 4-1 and was led by senior
Julia Noguchi with nine wins, followed by
Christina Ferrari,
Catherine Flanagan and
Zoe Superville with eight.
Sophomore
Chloe Beittel recorded a nearly flawless ledger (9-1) while senior
Huda Aldadah picked up eight victories.
Duke will now turn its attention to the 2022 ACC Fencing Championship Feb. 26-27. The Blue Devils will serve as the host site in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
