- Duke enters on a three-game winning streak and is 6-0 at Cameron Indoor this season.
- The game caps a grueling first month that saw Duke play 12 games in 33 days against one of the nation's toughest schedules. Duke's past opponents own a combined record of 62-25 (.713) -- eighth toughest nationally and third toughest by a power conference team.
- With an emphasis on defense and rebounding under first-year head coach Jon Scheyer, Duke is leading the ACC in rebounding (40.6), rebound margin (+9.9), offensive rebounds (14.3) and is second scoring defense (59.0) -- top 30 nationally in every category.
- Four of Duke's last five games have come against teams ranked top-10 in KenPom offensive efficiency -- Purdue (rated first), Ohio State (third), Iowa (sixth) and Xavier (ninth). Duke has held six teams overall to their season low for points, including Iowa (21 below) and Xavier (20).
- The Blue Devils have out-rebounded nine of their first 11 opponents, including seven by double-digit margins. Duke opened the season with a double-digit rebound margin in each of the first six games -- the longest such stretch (at any point in a season) in program history.
- Kyle Filipowski -- the first player all-time to be named ACC Rookie of the Week in each of a season's first four weeks, has scored in double figures in every game. His 14.9 points and 9.4 rebounds lead the team. The versatile 7-footer leads Duke in field goals, rebounds and steals.
- Filipowski's six double-doubles are tied for third nationally and lead all Division-I freshmen.
- The deep and balanced Blue Devils have seven players averaging at least 5.6 points and 2.4 rebounds this season, led by Filipowski's 14.9 and Jeremy Roach's 13.1. Four different Blue Devils have led the team in scoring over the last five games.
- Freshman Mark Mitchell (right) has 32 points and is 12-of-15 from the field over the last two games. He is Duke's third leading scorer (10.2) and second leading shooter (.524).
- Carlos Boozer, a national champion in 2001, was inducted to the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, becoming the 34th member from the men's basketball program to be inducted.

Tough Early Schedule for Young Blue Devils
- The Blue Devils did not shy away from a difficult early schedule in Coach Scheyer's first season, with his team of 11 newcomers and seven freshmen.
- Saturday's game vs. Maryland Eastern Shore caps a stretch of 12 games over the first 33 days. Duke has had no more than three days between any game this season (average of 2.0 days between games), while Duke's opponents have averaged nearly 3.5 days before playing Duke -- including six days for each Ohio State, Iowa and Delaware.
- Following UMES, the Blue Devils play just two games over the next 23 days.
- As of Dec. 9, Duke's opponents have combined for a record of .713 (62-25) -- the eighth highest opponent win percentage faced by a D-I team (third highest by a power conference team).
- Duke has faced three AP Top 25 teams through its first 12 games and battled No. 1-ranked Houston on the road in a closed scrimmage on Oct. 29.
- Duke is 12th in the latest release of the NET (Dec. 8) and is 3-2 in Quad 1 games -- tied for the most Q1 wins (Purdue) and having played the most Q1 games by any power conference team.
- Iowa marked the sixth of six consecutive power conference opponents for Duke, as the Blue Devils went 5-1 in that stretch.
Filipowski: ACC's First to Open Season with Four Consecutive Rookie of the Week Honors
- Freshman Kyle Filipowski, already a four-time ACC Rookie of the Week honoree, has scored in double figures every game of his college career and is leading the Blue Devils in scoring (14.9), rebounding (9.4) and steals (1.4).
- He is coming off his sixth double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Iowa at Madison Square Garden. He is tied for third nationally and leading all Division-I freshmen with his six double-doubles.
- In ACC history, Filipowski's four straight Rookie of the Week selections are topped only by Duke's Jabari Parker, who won it five consecutive weeks in 2013-14. Filipowski is the ACC's first player to open a season with four straight Rookie of the Week honors. Over the last 10 seasons (since 2013-14), Duke has had an ACC Rookie of the Week in 78 of a possible 157 weeks (49.7%). Twenty-two different Blue Devils have won the award at least once in that time.
- Duke leads the ACC in all-time Rookie of the Week picks with 150 -- by 54 over North Carolina (96) and 64 over Georgia Tech (86).
- Not your typical back-to-the-basket big man, the 7-foot Filipowski's 15 steals lead the team, his 14 made three-pointers are second most on the team and his .350 three-point percentage is third on the team. Ten of Flip's 15 steals have come over Duke's last five games, including a carer-high four vs. Xavier and three vs. Ohio State.
- In KenPom's formula to determine the nation's best player, Filipowski ranks seventh (as of Dec. 8). He is the only ACC player and only freshman in the top 10.
Duke's Depth Emerging
- Of the nine primary players in Duke's rotation, eight are averaging 6.0+ points per game over Duke's three-game winning streak with six of the eight also averaging at least 3.0 rebounds per game in that stretch. Junior Jeremy Roach and freshman Kyle Filipowski are each averaging 13.7 points over the last three wins, while freshman Mark Mitchell has scored 15+ points in back-to-back games and is averaging 11.7 over the last three.
- For the season, six Blue Devils are scoring 6.0+ points per game, with three in double-digit averages -- Filipowski (14.9), Roach (13.1) and Mitchell (10.2).
- Four different players have led the team in scoring over the last five games.
- Highly-rated freshmen Dereck Lively II (calf) and Dariq Whitehead (foot fracture), who each missed much of the preseason with injuries are beginning to find their game shape. Whitehead had career highs in points (eight) and rebounds (six) in a career-high 21 minutes against Iowa, while Lively had 11 points and five rebounds against Ohio State and has blocked multiple shots in five consecutive games, including three against Boston College.
- Over his last four games, freshman Tyrese Proctor has scored 45 points (11.3 avg). He scored 38 over his first seven this season (5.4).
