- Duke is second in the ACC and 23rd nationally in scoring defense, yielding just 60.4 points per game. Ten of the first 13 opponents have been held to less than 70 points, while seven have failed to score more than 60.Â
- Duke has held 12 of the 13 opponents to below their season scoring average -- six scored their season low for points, including holding Iowa to a season-low 62 (21 points below its average) and Xavier to 64 (20 points below its average).
- Duke's strong defensive numbers come against a schedule rated 46th-toughest versus opponent offensives (per KenPom) -- Four of Duke's last seven games came against teams ranked top-10 in KenPom offensive efficiency -- Ohio State (fourth), Purdue (sixth), Xavier (eighth) and Iowa (10th).
- Seven opponents this season have failed to top 30 percent from behind the arch, as Duke ranks 23rd nationally in three-point defense (.278).
Duke's Depth Emerging
- Of the nine primary players in Duke's rotation, eight are averaging 5.0+ points per game and nine are averaging 2.0+ rebounds per game this season.
- Six different players have led the team in scoring over the last seven games -- after Kyle Filipowski was the leading scorer in five of the first six.
- Sophomore Jaylen Blakes' carer-high 17 points off the bench at Wake Forest marked the first time in his career he led Duke in scoring, freshman Dariq Whitehead's career-high 15 points came in his first career start on Dec. 10 vs. Maryland Eastern Shore -- a game in which Duke started five freshmen for the first time in program history.
- Highly-rated freshmen Dereck Lively II also missed much of the preseason with a calf injury. He had 11 points and five rebounds against Ohio State and has blocked multiple shots in six consecutive games, including three against Boston College and a career-high five vs. UMES.
- Duke was without both Lively and Whitehead (illnesses) at Wake Forest. Graduate Ryan Young stepped into the starting lineup and finished a rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds -- hitting 5-of-6 from the field.
A Season for Charity
- Duke is 14th nationally and second in the ACC in free throw percentage, hitting .779 from the charity stripe. The Blue Devils have seven games this season shooting .800+ at the free throw line -- each of the seven have come over the last 11. Individually, eight different Blue Devils are converting .750+ at the line.
- Duke has hit 70 of its last 84 free throws (.833) over its last five games, and has hit .804 (152-of-189) over the last 11 games.
- Freshman Tyrese Proctor leads the team at .889, hitting 24-of-27 this season after having a streak of 17 consecutive made free throws snapped vs. Iowa.
- Graduate Jacob Grandison has made each of his seven attempts this season, while graduate Ryan Young enters the FSU game having made 12 consecutive free throws.
- In the last five minutes of games, Duke is 31-of-37 (.838), with Grandison (6-of-6) and freshmen Kyle Filipowski (6-of-7) leading the team.
Tough Early Schedule for Young Blue Devils
- The Blue Devils did not shy away from a difficult early schedule in Coach Scheyer's first season, with his team of 11 newcomers and seven freshmen.
- No power conference team played more games over the season's first 34 days than Duke's 12.
- Duke's grueling opening stretch -- with no more than three days between any game and nearly 8,000 miles of travel -- came against a schedule the currently ranks 10th toughest nationally (fifth toughest by a power conference team). Duke's past opponents are a combined 101-47 (.682).
- Duke has faced three AP Top 25 teams through its first 13 games and battled No. 5-ranked Houston on the road in a closed scrimmage on Oct. 29.
- Five Duke opponents -- and four of the past seven -- have come against teams ranked top 30 overall in KenPom (Kansas, Purdue, Ohio State, Iowa, Xavier). Of those five, OSU (rated fourth), Purdue (sixth), Xavier (eighth) and Iowa (10th) are top-10 in offensive efficiency.
- The win over Iowa capped a stretch of six consecutive power conference opponents for Duke, as the Blue Devils went 5-1 in that stretch.
Duke is No. 2 in Offensive Rebounding Percentage; Top 40 in Overall Rebounding
- Duke has been among the nation's best rebounding teams this season, ranking second nationally in offensive rebounding percentage (38.9).
- The team ranks top 40 nationally in total rebounds per game (39.9, 38th), offensive rebounds per game (13.7, 13th) and rebound margin (+9.5, 11th).
- Duke leads the ACC in both offensive rebounding and rebound margin.
- The Blue Devils have out-rebounded 10 of their first 13 opponents, including eight by double-digit margins. Duke opened the season with a double-digit rebound margin in each of the first six games -- the program record for longest such streak (at any point in a season). Duke had five-game streaks in 2017-18, 1998-98, in 1962-63 and 1960-61.
- Since the start of the 2020-21 season, Duke is 41-5 when out-rebounding its opponent.

Duke's Three-Point Streak
- Duke has connected on at least one three-pointer in 1,166 straight games, the second-longest streak nationally.
- It has been more than 30 years since Duke was held without a three-point field goal -- Dec. 30, 1989, versus Hawai'i.
