DURHAM – Duke softball head coach
Marissa Young announced the signing of two new additions to the Blue Devils program on Wednesday during National Signing Day.
Joining the Blue Devils next season will be League City, Texas native
Amiah Burgess and
Madeline Le, of Milpitas, Calif. "We are eager to sign Amiah Burgess and Madeline Le to our 2023 class." said Young.
Amiah Burgess

Position: Outfield
Height: 5'7"
Hometown/High School: League City, Texas / Clear Creek High School
Career Highlights/Honors:
- Three-time first-team all-district and two-time second team all-county
- Lady Dukes 18U National Team (2022-2023)
- .350 batting average in junior season
- No. 43 on Extra Innings Top 100
- 4 Year Superintendent Scholar (2019-2023), Student Council Secretary (2021-2023)
Coach Young's Thoughts: "Amiah was ranked 43rd by Extra Innings and is a dynamic athlete that can slap, bunt or stand in the box and swing away. She is a force in the outfield, with great reads off the bat and the ability to cover a lot of ground. Amiah plays with swag and contagious energy. We look forward to her bringing that to Durham."
Why Amiah chose Duke: "It was my dream school. I knew that the culture would not only make me a better softball player, but a better person, and that's the most important thing to me."
Madeline Le
Position: Infield
Height: 5'10"
Hometown/High School: Milpitas, Calif. / Milpitas High School
Career Highlights/Honors:
- CCS De Anza League Champions, named league MVP
- Named to the De Anza League First Team with the highest batting average (.577) and most home runs (9)
- Four-year letterwinner
- Cal Nuggets: 2021 Summer - 2023 Summer
- Fall 2021 highlights: .326 AVG, .404 OBP, 1.121 OPS
- Summer 2022 highlights: .308 OBP, 14 RBI, .950 FPCT
Coach Young's Thoughts: "Madeline Le is a super athletic infielder that can play short stop and third base with a cannon for an arm. She will add depth to our infield with her steady demeanor, game suave and smooth defensive skills. Linh is eager to come to our program to learn and grow in all aspects of her game. We are excited to get her to campus."
Why Madeline chose Duke: "I chose Duke because of the amazing combination between academics and athletics. From the first time I stepped on campus, it felt like home. I loved the atmosphere with the amazing diversity, hardworking students and iconic structures. Meeting some of the players and the coaches was so awesome. The team culture felt very strong, and I loved the intensity of the student-athlete life."
