DURHAM – The Duke men's soccer team earned its fourth consecutive top-16 seed in the NCAA Tournament on Monday, after being selected as the No. 7 seed for the upcoming tournament. 48 teams were selected into the single-elimination field, with the top-16 teams earning a national seed and a first-round bye.
The Blue Devils (11-1-4, 5-0-3) will play the winner of the first-round matchup between Denver and San Diego, on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m., at Koskinen Stadium, with streaming available on ESPN+. The winner of Sunday's match will face either 10th-seeded FIU, New Hampshire or Seton Hall in the third round, played on either Nov. 26 or 27.
Duke is coming off its first undefeated regular season since 1999 and had four individuals pick up ACC yearly awards –
Eliot Hamill (Goalkeeper of the Year),
Shakur Mohammed (Offensive Player of the Year),
Peter Stroud (Midfielder of the Year) and
Kamran Acito (Freshman of the Year). The Blue Devils had a total of nine players named to either an All-ACC or All-Freshman Team.
Duke men's soccer is 32-26-2 all-time in the NCAA Championship, headlined by the program's national title in 1986. The Blue Devils are headed to their eighth NCAA Tournament under head coach
John Kerr.
All first-round matches are played on Nov. 17, followed by all second-round matches on Nov. 20. The third round and quarterfinals will be played on Nov. 26/27 and Dec. 2/3 respectively. The 2022 NCAA College Cup is scheduled for Dec. 9-12 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
