DURHAM – The Duke University Future Initiative advisory group held its first bi-annual meeting this past weekend, highlighted by the Blue Devils' win over Virginia at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Six of the eight members were in attendance including Chris Dapolito, William Hill, Reggie Love, Greg Pritchard, Craig Richardson, and Ryan Wolitzer. Group members Jamin Pastore and Mike Scheider were unable to attend.
"The energy and passion around the program both from a fan and alumni engagement standpoint, is unlike anything I have seen before," group member and 2020 Duke graduate Wolitzer said. "Coach Elko has quickly helped Duke Football restore its reputation as an elite college football program. The Duke Football Future Initiative is excited to be a resource to helping Coach Elko, the University, and Duke Football continue to improve and foster a winning culture."
During the meeting, the committee focused on improved communication and branding, internships, mentoring and structured programming for Duke's football student-athletes.
"Being at homecoming with the other board members and a large number of former players has reinforced that Duke truly is a football school," group member and double Duke graduate Richardson added. "Coach Elko, Terrell Smith and the futures committee have established a culture and model that will ensure the long-term success of the program. I am thrilled that they are allowing me to be a part of this journey and proud to be associated with a football program that has such an incredibly bright future."
