ITA CAROLINA REGIONAL MATCH RESULTS

CARY, N.C. – Duke men's tennis won eight of its 12 matches during Day One of the ITA Carolina Regional Championship on Friday at Cary Tennis Park.

Three of the six individuals playing in the singles draw advanced to Saturday's Round of 32 in Faris Khan, Pedro Rodenas and Andrew Zhang.

The Blue Devils started the day claiming five-of-six matches during the opening round on Friday, all being two-set victories.

Khan defeated Coastal Carolina's Lucas Wayenburg 7-5, 6-4 in the round of 64 to continue in the singles tournament. Rodenas also competed against a Chanticleer in the second round, besting Maj Tomac 6-2, 6-2. Zhang then closed out the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Zac Larke of College of Charleston.

Another round of singles action will happen on Saturday followed by the start of doubles play at Cary Tennis Park. Duke has four teams in the draw, with three of them being seeded. Garrett Johns and Rodenas earned the No. 2 overall seed, while the duos of Khan and Niroop Vallabhaneni and Michael Heller and Zhang earned 9-16 marks. Andrew Dale and Jake Krug will also be competing. Duke's doubles matches will not begin prior to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
