ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Coming off a sweep of the Georgetown Intercollegiate, Duke men's golf returns to action this weekend at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. Hosted by Georgia Tech on the Lakeside Course, the Blue Devils is one of 13 teams competing. The Lakeside Course is setup to play at 7,017 yards and to a par of 72.
Joining Duke in the field is Alabama, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Georgia Tech, Pepperdine, Southern California, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia, Wake Forest and Washington. Georgia Tech also has a "B" team competing for a team score as well.
"We're always glad to make a return visit to Alpharetta," said head coach
Jamie Green. "The maintenance crew has again done an amazing job, and the course is in the best shape I've seen it in five or six years."
This is the 16th year of the event and Duke returns to the field after claiming the team title in 2019. The Blue Devils finished as the only team under-par three years ago, finishing at 2-under 862. Duke placed three individuals in the top-10, led by
Evan Katz in sixth place with a 54-hole score of 3-under 213.
Ian Siebers,
Luke Sample,
William Love,
 Ethan Evans and
Kelly Chinn make up Duke's starting lineup for the weekend. Siebers was co-medalist at the Georgetown Intercollegiate last week, finishing with a 5-under 211 and taking home the first-place trophy after tiebreakers. Sample, Chinn and Evans all finished in the top-20 individually at the Georgetown Intercollegiate, and Love has had all six of his rounds count toward Duke's team scores this season.
"The guys we have here, they've all posted multiple under-par rounds already this fall," said Green. "It's a great opportunity to match up our player's talent and potential with some of the best players and teams in the country."
At the Georgetown Intercollegiate, Duke secured its first team title of the 2022-23 season with an even-par 864 team score. The Blue Devils finished nine shots ahead of second place after using a back nine surge on the final day of play to grab a lead they wouldn't relinquish. The Blue Devils were best in scoring averages on par-4's and par-5's, including a blistering 21-under on par-5's, during the event. The team title was the 26th for Green
during his tenure at Duke, and the first victory for the Blue Devils since the Stitch Intercollegiate in the spring of 2022.
The Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate is played Friday through Sunday, with one round completed on each day. Duke is scheduled to start its first round at 10:50 a.m. when
Kelly Chinn tees off on the first hole. The Blue Devils are set to play alongside Washington and Pepperdine for Friday and Saturday's rounds, with new pairings for Sunday's final round determined based on 36-hole scores.
