GREENSBORO, N.C. – After keeping clean sheets in both of Duke's matches last week, goalkeeper
Eliot Hamill has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
This is Hamill's first ACC Player of the Week in 2022 after earning the recognition three times in 2021. He's the second Blue Devils player to be named an ACC Player of the Week during the 2022 season, joining
Shakur Mohammed, who was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 13.
Hamill tallied two more shutouts in Duke's efforts last week, raising his season total for clean sheets to seven, a new season-high for the graduate student. Hamill kept both Howard and No. 21 Virginia off the scoreboard, lowering his season goals against average to 0.45 and his career goals against average to 0.99. The Scarsdale, N.Y. native has played all 990 available minutes for Duke, and out of all ACC goalkeepers that have appeared in 10 or more matches, he has the best save percentage (.878), goals against average (.455), shutout percentage (.636) and saves per game (3.27) in the conference.
Duke returns to Koskinen Stadium on Friday evening for an ACC clash against Notre Dame. First touch is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the game also broadcast live on ACC Network. A "buy one, get one" ticket promotion is
currently available for fans.
