Eight Named to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke men's soccer featured eight players selected to the 2022 All-ACC Academic Team, as the conference announced on Thursday.

Senior Eliot Hamill, sophomores Antino Lopez, Lewis McGarvey, Nick Pariano, Peter Stroud and Thorleifur Ulfarsson and freshmen Ruben Mesalles and Shakur Mohammed have been tabbed to this year's team for their efforts on and off the pitch.

Hamill, McGarvey, Stroud and Ulfarsson were selected to the list of 62 players for the second time in their collegiate careers, while Lopez, Mesalles, Mohammed and Pariano have been named for the first time.

The Blue Devils were one of three programs with eight or more representatives on the All-ACC Academic Team, joining Clemson (nine) and Pittsburgh (eight).

Each representative played key roles in the success of the Blue Devils on the pitch, with all starting 12 games or more and registering 88 of the team's 126 points, while Hamill made 18 starts in net. Ulfarsson parlayed his academic and athletic success into a 15 goal, 31-point season, signing a Generation adidas contract and being drafted fourth overall by Houston Dynamo FC in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft.

The Blue Devils finished the season 14-5-1 overall, reaching the ACC Championship final for the first time since 2006. Duke also advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championship.

With the eight selections to the annual list, the Blue Devils matched their most on the All-ACC Academic Team since 2011.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
