Nine Named to All-ACC Academic Football Team

DURHAM – Duke landed nine selections on the 93-member 2021 All-ACC Academic Football team announced by the ACC on Tuesday.Â

Jake Bobo, Porter Wilson and Ben Frye received the honor for the second time in their careers, each being named to the 2020 team last season.

Six of Duke's nine picks earned the selection for the first time in their careers. Duke's first-time picks were Graham Barton, Josh Blackwell, DeWayne Carter, Jackson Hubbard, Dorian Mausi and John Taylor.
Clemson and Wake Forest led the conference with 12 and 11 selections, respectively, followed by Duke with nine honorees. Over the last 10 seasons (2012-21), Duke has produced a conference-best 138 All-ACC Academic selections ahead of Clemson (63), Pittsburgh (54), Virginia (53), N.C. State (50), Syracuse (50), Wake Forest (50), Virginia Tech (41), Boston College (41), Miami (37), Georgia Tech (35), Louisville (30), North Carolina (25) and Florida State (19). Of note, Syracuse and Pittsburgh's totals do not include 2012, while Louisville's sum does not include 2012-13. Notre Dame is also not included on this list.
Boston College trailed Duke with eight selections, followed by Georgia Tech (7), NC State (7), Syracuse (7), Virginia Tech (7), Virginia (6), Pittsburgh (5), Florida State (4), Louisville (4), Miami (4) and North Carolina (2).

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 or better grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. The league has selected an All-ACC Academic Football team every year since 1954.
