DURHAM – The Duke softball program has been ranked No. 13 in the nation in the 2022 D1 Softball preseason rankings, as the publication announced on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils finished the 2021 season ranked 18th in the same poll and is ranked in D1 Softball's preseason poll for the first time in program history. D1 Softball's preseason poll is the first of several slated to arrive before the season opener against California Baptist on February 11.

Marissa Young and the Blue Devils return 17 of 25 members of last season's ACC Championship team, including 2021 NCFA Second Team All-American
Deja Davis and all four members of the event's All-Tournament team –
Peyton St. George,
Shelby Walters,
Kristina Foreman and
Gisele Tapia.
In addition, the Blue Devils welcome last season's fourth-ranked signing class per
Extra Innings Softball to the fold for their first season of action in Durham.
Duke will open the 2022 season at the Kajikawa Classic, hosted by Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz., Feb. 11-13. The Blue Devils are slated to face two opponents also ranked in D1 Softball's preseason top-25, with games against No. 3 Oklahoma State and No. 21 Arizona State (two).
