DURHAM – Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Ross Cockrell recorded three tackles in the Buccaneers 41-17 win over the Carolina Panthers in their regular season finale of the National Football League.
Offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson started at left guard for the San Francisco 49ers and helped lead them to a 27-24 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Rookie cornerback Michael Carter II of the New York Jets tallied three tackles and a pass breakup against the Buffalo Bills in the final game of his first season in the league. Arizona Cardinals cornerback Breon Borders also registered three tackles against the Seattle Seahawks.
Six Blue Devils have seen their teams clinch the playoffs with five scheduled to play this weekend in wildcard action – Borders (Arizona), Cockrell (Tampa Bay), Victor Dimukeje (Arizona), Noah Gray (Kansas City), Tomlinson (San Francisco). Lucas Patrick (Green Bay) has a bye to the divisional playoff, which is set for next weekend.
