Blue Devils Rise to No. 19 in United Soccer Coaches Poll

DURHAM – After starting the season 3-1-0, the Duke men's soccer program has risen to a season-high ranking of No. 19 in the country, according to the United Soccer Coaches rankings released on Tuesday.

The Blue Devils added another key win during the non-conference slate, defeating Michigan 1-0 in Ann Arbor on Thursday. Freshman Ruben Mesalles's first collegiate goal delivered the Blue Devils its third win of the season and vaulted them up six places from No. 24 after week one.

While the Blue Devils would go on to drop a 1-0, double overtime decision to Seattle, the team has played excellent defense all season and started the year holding opponents scoreless for 375:31 consecutive minutes. Eliot Hamill remains the ACC leader in save percentage at 0.917 and will enter the next game as the reining ACC Defensive Player of the Week.

On the other side of the ball, the Blue Devils remain the top-10 nationally in shots per game (18.75, 7th) and goal differential (+7, 7th) and top-25 in shots on goal per game (7.50, 17th), total goals (8, 22nd) and total points (23, 24th).

The Blue Devils will now turn their attention to ACC play, as they welcome Virginia Tech on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Koskinen Stadium.
