Smith Undergoes Surgery

DURHAM – Duke redshirt sophomore tight end Matt Smith underwent surgery Tuesday to address a torn right anterior cruciate ligament suffered during Friday's season opener at Charlotte.

The surgical procedure was performed by Dr. Ned Amendola. Smith will miss the remainder of the 2021 season.

Duke (0-1, 0-0 ACC) returns to action on Friday when it hosts North Carolina A&T (0-1, 0-0 BIG SOUTH). Kickoff is set for 8 p.m., and the game will be televised on ACC Network.
