DURHAM, N.C. – The Golf Channel has released its preseason top-30 rankings for Division I with the Duke women's golf program tabbed No. 4 nationally. The Blue Devils have now been ranked No. 2 and No. 4 in two preseason listings.
In the Golf Channel ledger, Stanford held the top slot with Wake Forest, Ole Miss, Duke, LSU, Arizona, Oklahoma State, Florida State, Auburn and Southern California in the top 10.
Duke returns five letterwinners from its squad that won the 2021 ACC Championship and advanced to the semifinals of match play at the NCAA Championship. Entering his 38th season as the head coach with the Blue Devils,
Dan Brooks returns senior
Gina Kim, junior
Megan Furtney, junior
Erica Shepherd, sophomore
Phoebe Brinker and sophomore
Anne Chen. The trio of Kim, Shepherd and Brinker are coming off earning All-America accolades last season.
Brooks also added two rookies in the mix with
Sophia Bae and
Rylie Heflin. The duo of Bae and Heflin combined to notch 23 top-5, 34 top-10 and 47 top-20 placements on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) since 2016.
The Blue Devils were preseason ranked No. 2 in the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) rankings recently.
Duke will open the 2021 fall campaign Sept. 13-15 at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which will be played at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn.
