DURHAM – Ten former Blue Devils appeared during the first week of regular season play in the National Football League.
Two former Duke defensive backs made impacts on their teams during week one. Rookie Michael Carter II recorded five tackles, one tackle for loss and a pass breakup in his NFL debut for the New York Jets.
Earlier in the week, Tampa Bay's Ross Cockrell, one of Duke's longest tenured NFL player entering his seventh season, recorded five tackles in the Buccaneers' 31-29 win over Dallas on Thursday night.
On the offensive side, New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones opened his season with a 22-of-37 passing performance for 267 yards and a touchdown. Jones also added 27 rushing yards on six carries with a score.
Former Duke offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson started at left guard in San Francisco's 41-33 win over Detroit to begin his seventh season in the league.
In addition to Carter II, Victor Dimukeje (Arizona Cardinals), Noah Gray (Kansas City Chiefs) and Chris Rumph II (Los Angeles Chargers) made their NFL debuts over the weekend.
