NORTH WALES – The Duke University women's golf tandem of Sarah LeBrun Ingram and senior
Gina Kim helped guide the United States to a 12 1/2 to 7 1/2 victory over Great Britain and Ireland in the 41st Curtis Cup at Conwy Golf Club in North Wales. Â
The USA won six of the eight singles matches on Saturday to capture the victory, capping a come-from-behind win after trailing 4 1/2 to 1 1/2 following day one. Â
"It feels amazing to have come here and to come away winners," said Ingram. "We've had a spectacular week, beautiful weather. The people are amazing here, so welcoming and helpful and cheering us on as well as their own players. We're thrilled to have come away the winners."
Kim, a product of Durham, N.C., dropped a 4&3 decision to Carley McGinty in singles to close her action on Saturday. Â
Ingram, the captain for the United States squad, is a 1988 Duke graduate and a three-time Curtis Cup selection in 1992, 1994 and 1996.
The USA won the match as the visiting team for the first time since 2008. Â
Since 1992, the Blue Devils have had at least one representative in the Curtis Cup, and in 14 of the 15 times it has been contested. It is the best streak of any school in the nation. Â
