DURHAM, N.C. – The preseason ANNIKA Award Watch List for the 2021-22 campaign was announced on Friday morning live on the Golf Channel with Duke women's golf senior
Gina Kim one of 20 selections.
Kim, a native of Durham, N.C., is currently representing the United States at the Curtis Cup in North Wales and is coming off claiming medalist accolades at Stage I of the LPGA Qualifying School in California with a 15-under-par, 273, over four days.
Others on the list include Jensen Castle (Kentucky), Hannah Darling (South Carolina), Karen Fredgaard (Houston), Annabell Fuller (Florida), Linn Grant (Arizona State), Rachel Heck (Stanford), Maddison Hinson-Tolchard (Oklahoma State), Vivian Hou (Arizona), Yu-Sang Hou (Arizona), Julia Johnson (Ole Miss), Cindy Kou (Southern California), Rachel Kuehn (WFU), Ingrid Lindblad (LSU), Emma Spitz (UCLA), Latanna Stone (LSU), Beatrice Wallin (Florida State), Lauren Walsh (WFU), Angelina Ye (Stanford) and Rose Zhang (Stanford).
Kim was one of the hottest golfers in the nation to conclude the 2020-21 season. She placed in the top 11 of her final four stroke play events, including a tied for fifth finish at the NCAA Championship with rounds of 74, 67, 72 and 73 for a 2-under, 286, on her way to earning First Team All-America honors. She became the fourth Blue Devil to notch back-to-back top-10 finishes in the championship in their first two appearances joining Celine Boutier, Amanda Blumenherst and Jennie Lee. Kim turned in a tied for 10th finish in 2019 as a rookie.
A three-time All-America selection, Kim earned All-ACC recognition for the second time in her career as a junior, while also claiming the ACC Individual Championship with rounds of 68, 69 and 69 for a 10-under-par, 206. With 11 rounds of even or under par on the year and a career-best 72.11 stroke average, Kim led Duke in both categories. Her five rounds in the 60s also led the Blue Devils.
Kim carried her stellar play over to the summer where she helped lead the United States to a victory in the Arnold Palmer Cup, qualified for the U.S. Women's Open and won the Pinehurst North & South Women's Amateur.
Duke will open the 2021 fall campaign Sept. 13-15 at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which will be played at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn.
