DURHAM – Duke head football coach David Cutcliffe was inducted into the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame earlier this week at the Knoxville Convention Center.
This was the third time Cutcliffe has been selected for enshrinement as he was also named to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2016 and the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.
Cutcliffe, who enters his 14th season at the helm of the Duke program, was one of 10 members of the Class of 2021, joining Heather Sumpter Blakemore (track & field), Mike Caldwell (football), Mickey Dearstone (basketball broadcaster), Donnie Graham (track & field race official), Chris Groer (tennis), Lee Guetterman (baseball), Carly Pearson (paracyclist), Charlie Petrone (football trainer) and Jay Wise (golfer).
Cutcliffe, a two-time ACC Coach of the Year who also earned National Coach of the Year accolades following the 2013 campaign, has led the Duke program to unparalleled success during his time in Durham. Cutcliffe's vision has come together in the last eight years with 57 victories, six bowl appearances, three bowl championships and the 2013 ACC Coastal Division championship.
