DURHAM – Duke University senior
Leah Crouse was named to the 2021 ACC Field Hockey Preseason All-ACC squad as voted by the league's seven head coaches. The Blue Devils were picked to finish tied for fifth in league play.
Crouse, an All-ACC pick in 2019, returns for her senior season after missing much of the 2021 spring season to injury. As a sophomore in 2019, she led the Blue Devils in scoring with 11 goals and four assists for 26 points.
Currently Crouse is in Santiago, Chile playing with the U21/22 U.S. National Team at the Junior Pan American Championship. She and Team USA are looking to lead the red, white and blue to the 2021 FIH Junior Hockey World Cup in December.
For her career, the Virginia Beach native has played 52 career games with 30 starting assignments. She has registered 15 career goals and assisted on 14 others for 44 points. Six of her 11 goals in 2019 were game winners.
North Carolina was picked to win its fifth consecutive ACC title with six of the seven first-place votes. Boston College came in at No. 2 with 30 points, while Virginia was voted third with the final first-place nomination. Wake Forest rounds out the top four with
Duke, Louisville and Syracuse all tying for fifth with 23 points apiece.
Boston College led all schools with three on the preseason All-ACC squad, while North Carolina had two. The other five schools each had one representative.
Duke officially opens its 2021 slate this weekend, hosting Rutgers and Richmond in a Friday and Sunday set, respectively. First hit against the Scarlet Knights is Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. Duke returns to Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium Aug. 29 for a 1 p.m., matchup against Richmond.
