DURHAM – Redshirt sophomore offensive tackle John Gelotte spoke to Blue Devil Network on Friday to give an update on Duke's fall camp.
Â
The Blue Devils are a few days away from wrapping up fall camp and shifting focus to preparations for their season opener at Charlotte on Sept. 3. Gelotte spoke about learning from veteran guys on the team last year as he competes for a starting spot on the offensive line in 2021.
Â
"This is year three of camp for me and the second year at right tackle," Gelotte said. "This year I feel more natural in it. I learned a lot last year, like how to practice from Devery [Hamilton]. It really set me up for this third year of camp.
Â
"Having an experience on the offensive line really helps during practice. It slows down the defensive line. Having Jacob Monk beside me really helps as well because he's a third-year starter and he helps with the calls and what to do."
Duke continues its fall camp schedule in preparation for its season opener on Friday, Sept. 3 at Charlotte. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Jerry Richardson Stadium.
