Finn Hossfeld have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) 2021 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large Teams.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. Honorees selected First-Team Academic All-District® will advance to the Academic All-America® ballot and honorees for Division I will be announced August 2.
Both Gianneschi and Hossfeld were the lone Blue Devils to be selected as first-time honorees.
Gianneschi graduated in the spring, leaving behind an impressive Duke résumé. The Atlanta, Ga., native is a two-time NCAA Championship qualifier, four-time All-ACC Academic Team selection and most recently in 2021, captured her first silver medal at the ACC Championship. She also helped guide the Blue Devil women to their first ACC team title in program history as she wrapped up her career with a 148-80 record (.649 winning percentage).
Hossfeld had a standout sophomore season for Duke as he captured his first All-America accolade as he finished tied for third at the NCAA Championship. The Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., native also grabbed gold during the individual portion of the ACC Championship and went on to spearhead the men's ACC team title. Hossfeld was named ACC Fencer of the Year for foil and was named to the All-ACC Academic Team for his successes in the classroom.
