DURHAM – Duke senior wide receiver Jake Bobohas been named to the 2021 Wuerffel Trophy watch list.

The award is given annually to the player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

In 32 career games, including 13 starts, the Belmont, Mass., native has recorded 52 receptions for 647 yards and two touchdowns. In addition to his offensive duties, Bobo has seven punt returns for 41 yards and one kickoff return for 19 yards.

The 6-5, 215-pound target boasts 13 games with 20-plus receiving yards, including a career-high 70 yards at Syracuse in 2020. Bobo also hauled in a career-high six receptions at NC State that season.Â

Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback from the University of Florida, Danny Wuerffel, the Wuerffel Trophy is presented in February annually in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The trophy exists to honor college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society, and inspire greater service in the world and is presented by the All Sports Associate of Fort Walton Beach.

Nominations for the Wuerffel Trophy are made by the respective universities' Sports Information Departments and will close on October 15. An up-to-date list of nominees can be found at www.wuerffeltrophy.org beginning on August 1. Semifinalists for the award will be announced on November 2 and finalists will be announced on November 22.

The formal announcement of the 2021 recipient will be made on December 9 and the presentation of the 2021 Wuerffel Trophy will occur in February 2022 in Fort Walton Beach.
Duke is set to kick off the 2021 season on Friday, September 3 at Charlotte. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Jerry Richardson Stadium.
