DURHAM, N.C. – As the 2021 U.S. Women's Open gets set to kick off this week at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., the Duke women's golf program will feature four golfers in the event – Celine Boutier, Brittany Lang, Yu Liu and
Gina Kim.
The 76th playing of the U.S. Women's Open and only the fourth in the state of California, will feature 156 golfers from 27 different countries.
Lang, the 2016 U.S. Women's Open Champion, will see action in her 17th straight U.S. Women's Open, which is currently the third-longest streak for the tournament behind Cristie Kerr (24) and Angela Stanford (22).  Over her career, Lang owns 55 career top-10 finishes and has collected over $7,000,000 in earnings on the LPGA Tour.
Two years ago, both Boutier and Liu led the U.S. Women's Open in Charleston, S.C., before finishing tied for fifth overall at three-under-par, 281.  Boutier currently ranks 44th on the 2021 money list with $112,962 in earnings, while Liu is 37th with $124,828.
Kim, a rising senior for the Duke women's golf program, will see action in her third U.S. Women's Open.  Her last appearance in 2019, Kim made a splash as she finished as the low amateur with a tied for 12th finish with rounds of 66, 72, 73 and 72 for a 283.  She turned in a first round of 66, which was the lowest 18-hole ledger in U.S. Women's Open history by an amateur.  The 72-hole score of 283 was tied for the second-lowest by an amateur as well.  Kim is coming off being named a WGCA First Team All-American as a junior.
