LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) revealed the 54 student-athletes voted to 2021 NFCA Division I All-America teams Wednesday afternoon as junior
Deja Davis earned second team honors.
Davis' All-America selection comes as the first in program history. She was one of three Blue Devils who received All-Southeast Region accolades, earning a spot on the first team.
The Cerritos, Calif., native put together the strongest season of her career, leading the Blue Devils offensively throughout the entire 2021 campaign. She started all 56 games, splitting time between shortstop, designated player and right field. Davis' All-America honor was for the designated player or utility/non-pitcher position.
Davis finished her junior year with a .389 batting average, .653 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .444. She registered 65 hits, including nine doubles, seven triples and seven home runs. Davis garnered 28 RBIs and stole 14 bases, the second most on the team. She broke program season records for batting average, slugging percentage, hits, triples and total bases (109).
She tallied 16 multi-hit games, recording three hits in four contests, and six multi-RBIs games. Davis held Duke's longest hit steak of the 2021 season at 14 games, spanning from Feb. 19-March 13, and reached base in 21 consecutive contests. She garnered at least one hit in 20 of the Blue Devils' first 22 games of the year.
Prior to the start of the season, Davis was named Preseason All-ACC. She finished the year as an All-ACC First Team selection and was a USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 25 Finalist.
