DURHAM – Following the conclusion of its historic 2021 campaign, the Duke softball team ranked amongst the top 25 in all four national polls.
The Blue Devils checked in at No. 18 in the final ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll and No. 20 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. Duke also landed at No. 18 in D1Softball and No. 21 in Softball America.
Duke put together a program-best 44-12 record, including a 26-10 mark in ACC action. The Blue Devils claimed their first ACC Championship title and made its NCAA postseason debut as the No. 13 national seed at the Athens Regional.
The program saw its first All-American in junior
Deja Davis while she joined her teammates, junior
Shelby Walters and senior
Peyton St. George, on NFCA All-Region teams. Among the numerous accolades, four Blue Devils earned All-ACC First Team honors.
Head coach
Marissa Young and her coaching staff was named the 2021 Division I Regional Coaching Staff of the Year by the NFCA for the Southeast region.
