DURHAM – Duke wide receiver Jake Bobo, safety Michael Carter II and offensive guard Rakavius Chamberswere all named to the 2020-21 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District III First Team.

To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve, achieve sophomore standing at their current school, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.3 and be nominated by his sports information director.

Duke, which has had 28 CoSIDA Academic All-District nods in the last nine seasons, joined Georgia Tech (one), Notre Dame (two), Pittsburgh (one), and Syracuse (three) as the only ACC programs with a first team selection this season.

Bobo, a 2020 Academic All-ACC recipient, has played in 32 career games, making 13 starts the last three years. The Belmont, Mass., native has 52 receptions for 647 yards and two touchdowns to his name. He has also served on special teams, registering seven punt returns for 41 yards. Bobo hauled in a career-high six receptions against NC State in 2020 and has 13 games with 20-plus receiving yards, including a career-high 70 yards versus Syracuse in 2020. The rising senior is currently pursuing a degree in Economics and is set to graduate in May 2022.
A third team All-ACC selection as a senior, Carter II was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy and the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award. The team captain saw action in 46 career games, 36 starts, and had 135 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four interceptions, 24 pass breakups, one caused fumble, one fumble recovery and one quarterback pressure. In 2,581 career snaps, he tallied two-plus tackles in 30 games, including a career-high nine stops against Alabama in 2019. Carter II's 24 career pass breakups placed him tied with Quinton McCracken (1988-91) for 10th all-time in program history. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the New York Jets after obtaining his Duke degree in Public Policy in December 2020.

A three-time All-ACC Academic Team recipient and a member of the 2020 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team, Chambers had a successful four-year career for the Blue Devils. He saw action in every game while at Duke (49 games), making 33 starts along the offensive line. The Opelika, Ala., native played 2,832 career snaps and had two bowl wins to his resume (2017 Quick Lane Bowl and 2018 Walk-On's Independence Bowl). Throughout his Duke tenure, Chambers helped block for an offense that averaged 375.69 yards of total offense per game. He also paved the way for the Blue Devils to record 12 games with 40-plus points. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Duke in May 2020.

By virtue of their placement on the all-district team, all three will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees being announced in late May.
