DURHAM, N.C. – The ACC announced Tuesday the 2021 All-ACC Women's Lacrosse teams as Duke received four all-conference recognitions.
Junior
Maddie Jenner and graduate student
Gabby Rosenzweig were selected to the first team while graduate student
Callie Humphrey earned a spot on the second team. Rookie
Katie DeSimone captured All-Freshman honors.
After being named one of 25 Tewaaraton nominees last week, Jenner earns her first All-ACC accolade as an attacker. Jenner has continued her dominance at the draw circle in 2021 and owns 152 draw controls this spring. The Annapolis, Md., native leads the ACC with 10.13 draw controls/game and is ranked second in the nation as she owns 336 career draws. Jenner has tallied a season-high 15 three times this season, just one off her career high. In addition to her draw dominance, Jenner has worked hard to contribute to the team beyond the circle. This season, she has 21 goals and an assist for 22 points, which includes a career-high four goals in Duke's wins over William & Mary and Liberty. The 6-2 junior has also grabbed 10 ground balls and caused two turnovers as she boasts a .525 shooting percentage this spring.
After transferring to Duke for her graduate year, Rosenzweig has proven to be one of the most versatile players in the ACC in her time as a Blue Devil. She owns 22 goals and 27 assists for a team-leading 49 points and has picked up eight ground balls and caused five turnovers on the defensive end. The Somers, N.Y., native has registered at least one goal in 11 of Duke's 15 games this season.
Humphrey has been a mainstay in Duke's defensive lineup the last five years and has proven to be among the Duke greats. This season, Humphrey owns 25 ground balls and a team-leading 31 caused turnovers. She owns 100+ ground balls and 100 caused turnovers to rank 14th and fifth on Duke's all-time charts. The Summit, N.J., native reached the 100 caused turnover plateau in Duke's narrow 12-11 setback to top-ranked North Carolina on April 23, 2021.
Rookie DeSimone has proven to be a point of emphasis for Duke's offense this spring and is tied for fourth on the team with 25 points (16 goals, 9 assists). The Bay Shore, N.Y., product has scored at least one goal in nine of Duke's contests this season and earned a spot in the starting lineup the last six games.
Duke will open play at the 2021 ACC Championship Wednesday, April 28 against fourth-seeded Notre Dame. Opening draw is set for 2:30 p.m., on ACCN.
