DURHAM – A week ago at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., the Duke women's golf program won its 22nd ACC Championship with a 5-0 victory over Florida State in match play, over a very impressive four days of golf. The ACC Network was there for the entire tournament and will air a recap show on Monday, April 26 at 8 p.m.
The show will also be aired on April 27 at 1 pm, May 3 at 6 p.m., and May 4 at 6 a.m.
As a team, Duke opened the championship with an 11-under-par, 853, over three rounds of stroke play to earn the No. 1 seed in match play. Blue Devil junior
Gina Kim turned in three straight rounds in the 60s on her way to finishing the stroke play portion of the championship with a 10-under, 206, to win individual medalist accolades.
Freshman
Anne Chen (4), sophomore
Erica Shepherd (T8) and
Jaravee Boonchant (T20) also posted top-20 finishes in stroke play.
Duke moved to the match play portion of the event and registered a 3-2 victory over Virginia as freshman
Phoebe Brinker, Chen and Kim collected victories for the Blue Devils.
In the championship match against the Seminoles, Brinker, Boonchant, Kim, Shepherd and Chen all posted wins to give Duke head coach
Dan Brooks his 21st championship over his 37 years with the Blue Devils. It also marked Brooks' 140th all-time victory at Duke.
Duke will await the NCAA Regional selection show on Wednesday, April 28 at 2 p.m., live on the Golf Channel.
