DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke Blue Devils track & field team wrapped up action at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday evening. Senior
Leigha Torino led the way with a ninth-place finish in the 800 meters, while senior
Erin Marsh finished 12
th in the 60m hurdles.
Marsh got the evening started for the Blue Devils, fresh off her record-breaking Thursday in the pentathlon. Competing in the 60m hurdles at NCAA Indoor Championships for the first time, Marsh recorded a time of 8.24 seconds.
The Buford, Ga., native concludes a prolific indoor season that saw her take home an NCAA Indoor Championship bronze medal, two ACC Indoor Championship silver medals and be named First Team All-America in the pentathlon, First Team All-ACC in the 60m hurdles and high jump and Second Team All-ACC in the long jump.
Torino wrapped up the night with her first NCAA Indoor Championship appearance in the 800m. The Citra, Fla., native clocked a time of 2:05.74, just .55 shy of her personal best. Her run came 1.5 seconds short of qualification to the final.
Torino concludes a breakout indoor season, in which she took home two individual event titles in the 800m at the Hokie Invitational and Camel City Invitational and earned All-ACC Second Team honors at the ACC Indoor Championships. Torino entered the NCAA Championships with the 15
th fastest 800m time in the nation and improved her national standing by six spots with tonight's run.
The attention now turns to the outdoor season as the Blue Devils prepare to travel to High Point University for the Bob Davidson Invitational. Events will begin on March 19 and conclude on March 20.
