DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team is set to kick off the 2021 this weekend Feb. 6-7 at the Ohio State Invitational at the French Field House in Columbus, Ohio. Blue Devils are set to face off against nine teams in their opening weekend of competition.
On Saturday, the Blue Devil women will face Northwestern, Penn State, Ohio State, Denison and Wayne State before closing out Sunday's action with NJIT, Temple, and Air Force. The men are slated to take on Penn State, Ohio State and Wayne State on Saturday while Sunday's lineup includes NJIT and Air Force.
The women's foil squad will feature co-captain
Julia Gianneschi, junior
Zoe Superville and rookies
Christina Ferrari and
Lulu Tang. On the men's side, co-captain
Brycen Rushing will look to lead
Sam Gruber,
Finn Hossfeld and
David Tierney.
Alex Gorman,
Zsofia Walter,
Anneke Zegers and
Gabrielle Zegers headline the women's saber squad while
Stephen Kim,
Ping Ping Kitsiriboon,
San Ha Lim and
Ben Stone make up the men's side.
Co-captain
Maria Papadopoulos will look to close out her Duke campaign strong on the women's epee team alongside
Huda Aldadah,
Chloe Beittel and
Sarah Lurye. On the men's side,
Danny Campbell III,
Kevin Chao,
Joe Choo and
Jason Post will represent Duke.
Following this weekend, Duke will prepare for the ACC Championships in Chapel Hill February 27-28.
