GREENVILLE, N.C. – Graduate student
Catherine Cordrey recorded her 100th career goal to lift the 11th-ranked Duke women's lacrosse team to a 16-4 victory over East Carolina at Johnson Stadium in Greenville, N.C. Cordrey finished the afternoon with four goals and two assists for six points.
With the win, the Blue Devils improve to 4-1 as the Pirates dip to 2-3.

The Pirates were first on the board less than one minute into the contest before Cordrey netted her first goal of the game at 27:54 on a feed from DeBellis. ECU answered 60 seconds later on a free-position goal and then less than a minute later Barry found the back of the net on her own FPG (2-2), her third tally of the season.
Cordrey and Landry extended Duke's lead to 4-2 with 18:13 remining in the first before both teams hit a scoring drought for nearly 17 minutes. Barry's second FPG of the game ended the scoreless stretch and put Duke ahead (5-2) heading into halftime.
ECU goalkeeper Ashley Vernon picked up five saves through the first 30 minutes of action on 15 Duke shots.
Duke came out hot in the second half, outscoring ECU 11-2, which included a 7-0 run in the first eight minutes. Cordrey tallied her final two goals of the game at 29:48 and 28:56, both on free-position goals to make it 7-2 Duke. Rookie DeSimone came off the bench for Duke and secured two goals to tie her career best just after the Pirates tallied two to end their scoring for the day (16-4).

Kerstin Kimel's daughter, Caroline, netted a goal for the Pirates and added two ground balls.
Junior
Sophia LeRose was in goal for Duke and picked up four saves, three ground balls and a caused turnover.
The Blue Devils outshot the Pirates 34-14 and added 15 draw controls, led by junior
Maddie Jenner with nine. Duke's defense registered 13 caused turnovers as Duke was nearly perfect on clears (17-for-19).
Kimel, Payton Barr, Megan Pallozzi and Ally Stanton all had one goal each for the Pirates.
The Blue Devils return to action Saturday, March 6 as they welcome No. 2 Syracuse to Durham at 1 p.m.
