DURHAM, N.C. – Due to rain on Friday evening, the opening game of the weekend series between No. 25 Duke and Boston College was suspended at 5-5 after five innings.
Game 1 will resume Saturday at 1 p.m. followed by the second game of the series, which will begin 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
Sophomore
RJ Schreck led the Blue Devils in the shortened game, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Senior
Joey Loperfido continued a strong start to the season, batting 1-for-2 with two runs in the five-inning affair.
Junior
Cooper Stinson started on the mound for the Blue Devils going 4.0 innings, allowing five hits, four walks and four earned runs. The Peachtree Corners, Ga., native recorded one strikeout as well.
The Blue Devils and Eagles were knotted at 2-2 after three innings before sophomore
Chad Knight hit a two-run home run over the left-field wall in the bottom of the fourth. Boston College answered with three runs in the next half inning to take the lead, 5-4. Duke rallied though to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth after Schreck singled to right field to score Loperfido.
Duke continues action on Saturday at 1 p.m.
