THE OPENING TIP
- With five games remaining in the regular season, Duke hosts No. 7 Virginia Saturday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium in a key clash of teams in the top half of the ACC.
- The game tips at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN with Dan Shulman and Jay Bilas on the call. On the radio, David Shumate and John Roth have the call on the Blue Devil Sports Network from Learfield IMG College (96.5FM & 610AM in Durham).
- The rivals have a recent history of close contests, with each of the last 11 games in the series decided by no more than 10 points each, including three of the last four as two-point decisions.
- Duke leads the all-time series, 121-52, including a 58-10 advantage in Durham -- 53-9 at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

- Sophomore Matthew Hurt enters the Virginia game averaging 23.0 points over his last two contests, while shooting 9-of-11 from three-point range and 16-of-19 from the field in that span.
- A candidate for ACC Player of the Year and Most Improved Player, Hurt is the only player ranked in the ACC's top 10 for scoring (18.3, ranked second), field goal percentage (.558, third) and made three-point field goals per game (2.4, fourth).
- Freshman Mark Williams has started Duke's last four games and is  averaging 8.0 points, shooting 13-of-23 (.565) from the field, while leading the team in rebounds (6.0) and blocks (3.0) in that span.
- Williams' 1.4 blocks per game are ranked eighth in the ACC and 14th among all freshman nationally.
- A Blue Devil has been the ACC's leading freshman scorer in six of the last seven seasons, and freshman DJ Steward is on pace to make it seven of the last eight. Steward leads all ACC freshmen at 13.2 points, while averaging 13.6 in conference-only games (ranked 16th in ACC).
- Duke's six ACC losses have come by a total of 28 points -- none decided by more than seven points -- and the Blue Devils have been out-scored by 41 points at the free throw line in those games.
DUKE VS. VIRGINIA
Duke leads the all-time series, 121-52, and has won five of the last seven. The Blue Devils lead the series, 58-10, in Durham (53-9 at Cameron Indoor Stadium) … The last 11 games in the series (Duke, 7-4) have each been decided by 10 points or fewer with the average margin just 4.9 points … Including last year's 52-50 Virginia win in Charlottesville, three of the last four games in the series have been two-point decisions.
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia, ranked No. 7 in the AP Poll and in sole possession of first place in the ACC, brings its 15-4 record to Durham … The Cavaliers saw their four-game winning streak snapped on Monday night at Florida State, 81-60 … Sam Hauser's 14.8 points (11th in the ACC) paces the Virginia offense, which averages 69.4 points per game overall … Kihei Clark is fourth in the ACC in assists (4.9), while Jay Huff is second in the ACC in field goal percentage (.614) … One of the nation's best defensive teams, Virginia yields just 59.9 points per game, which leads the ACC and ranks sixth in the NCAA … Only two teams this season have scored 70+ versus Virginia -- Gonzaga (98-75 loss) and Florida State (81-60 loss).

HURT AVERAGING 23.0 PPG IN LAST TWO GAMES

Matthew Hurt enters Saturday's game looking for his first career three-game 20-point streak. He poured in 24 at NC State on 8-of-10 from the field (6-of-7 from three), and followed that with 22 at Wake Forest on 8-of-9 from the field (3-of-4 from three) … Eighteen times this season, Hurt has scored 10+ points in a single half -- he did it just five times as a freshman … He has eight 20-point games this season -- 12 in his career … In his last two games, Hurt has averaged 23.0 points, shot 16-of-19 (.842) from the field and 9-of-11 (.812) from three-point range … His 6-of-7 from downtown at NC State tied the second-best three-point accuracy for a game in Duke history … Twice this season, Hurt has hit 6+ threes in a game -- one of just two ACC players to have 6+ made threes in multiple games, joining Virginia Tech's Jalen Cone … It marks the first time a Blue Devil has made 6+ threes in multiple games since both Gary Trent Jr., and Grayson Allen in 2017-18.
STEWARD LEADS ALL ACC FROSH IN SCORING

DJ Steward is looking to keep that run going in 2020-21, as Steward is ranked first in scoring among the conference's freshman corps at 13.2 points per game … Duke is 2-0 this season when Steward leads the team in scoring … Steward has been named ACC Freshman of the Week twice this season … The Chicago native posted a 19-point, five-rebound, three-assist effort against Georgia Tech, with his ACC career-high of 21 coming in the win over Wake Forest … He is coming off a 16-point, seven-rebound, three-assist, two-steal effort at Wake Forest in 30 minutes … Steward has hit at least one three-pointer in 14 consecutive games -- he's also started in each of the 14 … He has scored in double figures 14 times this season, including in eight consecutive games and in 13 of the last 14 games … The freshman is also Duke's leading free throw shooter at .857 (30-of-35) this season.
SENIOR STEPPING UP
Senior
Jordan Goldwire leads the ACC in assist/turnover ratio this season (+2.78), while ranking second in steals (2.5) and seventh in assists (3.8). He is ninth nationally in steals per game … When Goldwire leads Duke in assists, the Blue Devils are 6-2 this season and 12-3 in his career … Goldwire has 2+ steals in 16 of 17 games this season and his 16 multi-steal games are tied for second nationally and tied for the most among power conference players … Only Georgia Tech senior Jose Alvarado (105) and Boston College senior Steffon Mitchell (88) have more steals over the last two seasons than Goldwire's 89 … His career-high five steals came against Winthrop last year and he has recorded four steals three times this season.
WILLIAMS FINDS HIS FORM
Mark Williams, a 7-foot freshman, found a groove in late January, setting a career-high for points in consecutive wins over Georgia Tech (six points) and Clemson (11) … Over Duke's last four games, in which he has started each game, Williams is averaging 8.0 points, shooting .565 (13-of-23) from the field, and team highs in rebounds (6.0) and blocks (3.0) … He set career highs in the win at NC State for points (13), made field goals (five), blocks (five) and minutes (28) … His 22 blocked shots this season are 14th-most by NCAA freshmen and ranked eighth in the ACC … After hitting just six field goals over the season's first 10 games, Williams has connected on 21-of-36 over the last seven contests … He earned the start against North Carolina on Feb. 6 and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds while swatting three shots … Eighteen of his 22 blocks have come over the last six games.
