DURHAM, N.C. – For the first time in Duke softball history, a Blue Devil pitcher has earned ACC weekly honors as senior
Peyton St. George was tabbed the ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week Tuesday afternoon.
The Mechanicsville, Va., native had a strong showing in the circle Friday night, hurling a complete game to help the Blue Devils garner an 8-4 victory over fifth-ranked LSU on the road. St. George retired 11 straight batters before LSU recorded its first hit in the fourth inning. She finished the game with eight strikeouts while allowing three hits en route to her first win of the 2021 season.
With the win versus LSU, St. George has been the winning pitcher for both of Duke's victories over ranked opponents as she also pitched all seven frames in Duke's 1-0 shutout victory at fourth-ranked Texas Feb. 22, 2020. The weekly award is the second in Duke softball history as
Kristina Foreman was named the ACC Player of the Week on April 2, 2019.
