DURHAM – Duke women's golf fans are encouraged to tune into the Golf Channel on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m., as Blue Devil senior
Gina Kim will be participating in the PXG College Golf Showcase at Scottsdale National in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The College Golf Showcase will feature six of the top collegiate golfers, four males and two females along with two celebrities in an exhibition shootout, including actor/comedian Rob Riggle and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Jerome Bettis serving playing team captains. During the 18-hole competition, the telecast also will help raise awareness and critical funds for the Semper Fi & America's Fund and Mount Sinai Hospital's Center for Psychedelic Psychotherapy and Trauma Research.
Participants will be split into two four-person teams, Team Semper Fi and Team Mount Sinai, which will each be comprised of two male college golfers, one female college golfer and their celebrity team captain. The teams will go head-to-head in a scramble skins shootout on the first nine holes and a true alternate shot format for the final nine holes. The purse of $1,000,000 will be spread across the 18 holes comprised of the back nine of Scottsdale National's Mineshaft and Other Courses. The group will play as a walking eight-some with caddies.
The 2021 PXG College Golf Showcase at Scottsdale National will feature Kim and Brooke Matthews of Arkansas as the female college golfers and Logan McAllister (Oklahoma), Eugenio Chacarra (Oklahoma State), RJ Manke (Washington) and Noah Goodwin (Southern Methodist) as the male college golfers.
Duke women's golf head coach and seven-time NCAA Champion
Dan Brooks will serve as Kim's caddie for the event. Each player will have his or her program's coach as caddie during the event.
The broadcast team for the made-for-TV event includes Lauren Thompson, Arron Oberholser, Travis Fulton and Will Haskett.
Kim, a product of Durham, N.C., earned her 2022 LPGA Tour card this past weekend, after finishing the LPGA Q Series two-week qualifying. She will decide whether to turn professional prior to the 2022 collegiate spring slate or defer until after the NCAA Championship in May.
