DURHAM – Former Duke men's soccer player Jeremy Ebobisse has been named to Cameroon's preliminary roster for the Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Cameroon from Jan. 9 to Feb. 6, 2022.
Ebobisse spent two seasons at Duke, where he tallied nine goals and seven assists for 25 points over 38 games. Following his tenure as a Blue Devil, Ebobisse was drafted fourth overall in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by the Portland Timbers, where he was with the club until August 2021, before a trade sent him to the San Jose Earthquakes.
In his four-and-a-half season tenure with Portland, Ebobisse recorded 26 goals and nine assists, while adding another goal and assist in 11 games with San Jose. Ebobisse's next game in 2022 will be his 100th regular season game in Major League Soccer.
Born in Paris, France and of Cameroonian descent, Ebobisse has been selected to Cameroon's roster for the first time, after earning one cap with the United States in a friendly against Panama in 2019.
Cameroon has been drawn into group A, with Burkina Faso, Cape Verde and Ethiopia, with the top two teams to advance to the knockout stage. Cameroon will open play on Jan. 9 against Burkina Faso at Olembe Stadium in Yaoundé, at 11 a.m. ET.
