DURHAM – Duke senior
Delaney Graham has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team for the 2021 season, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Friday.
Graham earns her second consecutive Academic All-America honor after being tapped to the Second Team as a junior in 2020-21. She is the third student-athlete in program history to receive Academic All-America status multiple times in her career, joining
Rachel-Rose Cohen (2005-06) and
Imani Dorsey (2016-17). Overall, eight Blue Devils have been named Academic All-Americans for a total of 11 selections.
The Atlanta, Ga., native continued to establish herself as one of the most versatile and consistent players in the ACC this season, as she started all 21 matches for the Blue Devils and logged 1,782 minutes. Slotted as an outside wingback, Graham contributed to a defensive unit that allowed just 12 goals – the fewest by an ACC team and eighth-fewest nationally. After being held without a point through 18 matches, she recorded a goal and an assist over a two-game stretch in the NCAA Championship, highlighted by her game winner in the 43rd minute against Memphis in the second round on Nov. 19.
Graham was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Second Team for her efforts on the pitch, picking up All-Region honors for the third consecutive season. In the classroom, the biology major owns an impressive 3.93 GPA and is a three-time member of the All-ACC Academic Team.
She is one of four student-athletes representing an ACC program on this year's Academic All-America teams, joining Florida State's Gabby Carle, North Carolina's Rachel Jones and Clemson's Megan Bornkamp.
