DURHAM – Junior offensive lineman Jacob Monk and his father, former Blue Devil running back Stanley Monk, were featured in the latest episode of "Duke All-Access with Coach David Cutcliffe".
Â
Jacob has been a staple on the offensive line since arriving to campus in 2019. He has appeared and started in all 32 games on the Duke offensive line throughout his career. Jacob made an immediate impact for the Blue Devils right from the start, becoming just the third true freshman offensive lineman to play in the David Cutcliffe era at Duke, joining Julian Santos (2016) and Rakavius Chambers (2017).
Â
Stanley played running back for the Blue Devils from 1984-87. He rushed for more than 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns, including a pair of 100-yard games. He later went on to sign with the National Football League's Dallas Cowboys following his collegiate career.
Â
The feature focuses on Jacob's upbringing in nearby Clayton, N.C. He grew up playing running back, like his father, before shifting to offensive line. The Monks attended many Duke football games at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium while Jacob was growing up and it still remains an important activity for the tight-knit family.
