DURHAM – Duke men's soccer sophomore Thorleifur Ulfarsson has been named to TopDrawerSoccer's National Team of the Week, as the organization announced on Tuesday.
A native of Kopavogur, Iceland, Ulfarsson has been named to TDS's Team of the Week for the second time this season, after being named the publication's National Player of the Week on Oct. 4. Ulfarsson earns the distinction after scoring two goals in a span of just over a minute in the Blue Devils ACC Tournament 3-2 quarterfinal win over Wake Forest on Sunday.
Ulfarsson became just the fifth player in Blue Devils history to score two goals in an ACC Tournament game, joining Brian Kelly, Troy Garner, Donald McIntosh and Blake Camp. The striker has been one of the top offensive players in the country, leading the nation in goals per game (1.08) and points per game (2.25), with 13 goals and 27 points on the season.
Ulfarsson and the Blue Devils will continue their ACC Tournament run, traveling to Clemson for the semifinal on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network.
